Involvement in the School

Project | 01 Helping the Homeless

January is homeless month in Calgary. During my final practicum the grade 5 teacher team posed the following question to the grade five students:

"What can a grade five student do to help the homeless?"

Throughout the course of the month students prepared for their day of action. Watch how it all unfolded!

Project | 02 Pink Shirt Day PSA

In my final practicum I was given the opportunity to partake in an anti-bullying campaign designed with the help of a group of students.

After formulating an idea for the anti-bullying campaign we got to work on filming the PSA and celebrating Pink Shirt Day with a neighbouring school.

Pink Shirt Day in the school was a big event about spreading joy, kindness and a positive message: "You are bigger than the names they call you."

Project | 03 Celebrating the Staff

After bringing Spirit Leadership Club students to My World Conference and the Horizons Leadership Conference a group of students was inspired to create a positive change within the school by performing random acts of kindness.

With scaffolding and brainstorming students came up with the idea of celebrating the international day of awesomeness by gifting teachers and staff a cookie to thank them for their awesome contributions to the school and to acknowledge their hard work.
