I Believe…In the Value of Teaching
(My Personal Credo):

I believe that more than the right to learn, every individual has the will to learn.

I believe in embracing diverse learning styles; in the sometimes challenging adventure of finding new ways to help the students that take different approaches to learning.

I believe that school should be fun, because some kids just need a break from life outside of school.

I believe in the community of school; which includes parents whom should be interested in their children’s education.

I believe in the importance of literacy, and encouraging critical thinking to make learners more independent.

I believe that teaching is more than a job. That bringing personality into it makes all the difference because children and teachers are people.
Making connections and showing that you care blends into the other purpose of teaching: “the social and life skills that are learned throughout a school career.”

I believe in inspiring children to be creative—pushing them to reach their potential.

I believe in bullying awareness; finding ways to prevent unnecessary aggression.
Victim cries will be heard, and bystanders will finally stand up not just by.

I believe that learning is everlasting. Like brushing your teeth it is done everyday.
Directly or indirectly learning happens, and as a teacher I believe in the power of being a good role model.

I believe in ensuring everybody is learning the material, and in helping those who need a little extra help.

I believe in giving students your full attention when they need it-- children only need about 10 seconds of your full attention to tell you something and then they are satisfied.

I believe in helping the students with their social problems.

I believe in taking risks with students and giving them more credit-- children are capable of doing much more than we think.

I believe in rewarding good behaviour with a dance party or 5 minutes of game/sharing time.

I believe in persistence. If you try a concept and the student's don't get it: don't give up! Try and try because eventually one student will get it and you can run with that information so that the others will soon catch on.

I believe in student voice -- that children have interesting and valid opinions and things to share and that teachers need to take the time to recognize this in their students.

I vow to take good care of each and every one of my students.
